Condition: Arthritis
Toby suffers from advanced Arthritis. This is as a result of a road traffic accident when he was 10 moths old. Resulting in his shoulder being broken.
Unfortunately over the years this arthritis has travelled to his elbows and rear end which means he walks bow legged.
Unfortunately Toby was seriously ill 2 years ago with a severe intestinal infection and whilst trying to resolve this his arthritis medication had to be stopped. He made a miraculous recovery but it left the muscles in his rear end very weak.
From the time when his arthritis started to take a hold on Toby he has been attending hydrotherapy.
We had tried 2 previous hydrotherapy pools and only visited them on 2 occasions before finding Mark at Butterwick Hydrotherapy and neither Toby nor us have looked back. Originally the water exercise helped Toby enormously but now at the age of 13 with very reduced strength in his rear end we continue to take him for the sheer enjoyment he gets, but Mark and his staff do continue to work on exercising the muscles in his hind legs.
The commitment and compassion shown to Toby by all the staff at Butterwick is tremendous, I have never put my dogs in kennels but if it became necessary I would not hesitate to use Butterwick and would highly recommend them across the board.
